A large utility company was experiencing a steep rise in workers’ compensation claims and healthcare costs with an average cost per claim of more than $13,000. To meet safety goals and address budgetary issues, the company needed to decrease the cost of workers’ compensation claims.

Briotix Health Solution

After evaluating the types of injuries most commonly suffered by employees, the company determined that a comprehensive musculoskeletal injury prevention program would best fit their needs. They selected Briotix Health’s Industrial Sports Medicine™ solution with an emphasis on early discomfort screenings, health and wellness consultations, and ergonomic education to cut claims cost.

  • EARLY DISCOMFORT SCREENINGS
Using best-practice early discomfort management, a Briotix Health provider
delivered one-on-one personalized screenings to employees to address
discomfort early in the injury cycle, significantly reducing the likelihood the
discomfort would escalate to a claim.

  • HEALTH AND WELLNESS CONSULTATIONS
Individual and group health and wellness consultations were offered including the development of a customized fitness and flexibility program designed to prepare the body for and help recover from the physical strain of daily tasks.

  • ERGONOMICS AND EDUCATION
Biomechanics training, ergonomic assessments, and task analysis were conducted to reduce the risk of work-related injury and educate employees on the safest way to complete job tasks.

Results

Of those employees engaged by a Briotix Health provider, 93% of discomforts were resolved without converting to a claim. Of those that did result in a claim, the average cost was $5,257 lower.
